Sram Red eTap AXS is much more than a simple evolution of its predecessor, it is a revolution, a fully integrated approach to design a groupset that empowers ever more capable riders and the diverse range of bikes that they choose to ride. The recent development of the 10 tooth hardest gear for 12-speed cassettes has allowed Sram to re-think gear ratios to offer more range and a smoother gear progression. The Red AXS rear derailleur moves across this range harmoniously, with one cage length fits all compatibility for any of the Red AXS cassette and chainset options. The derailleur utilizes an innovative form of the clutch system seen on mountain bike derailleurs known as Orbit technology. Sram engineered a silicon fluid damper specifically for road application that keeps the chain in check while placing absolutely no additional resistance on the shifting spring mechanism. The front derailleur features Sram Yaw pivot technology which negates the need for a trim feature even when cross chaining, the derailleur is compatible with tyres up to 42c. The ergonomically designed electronic AXS shift-brake lever cancels out the variation in required shifting pressure over time that mechanical systems are subject to. There is also no delay whatsoever from pushing the paddle to derailleur movement. The 2x groupset features an optional sequential shifting feature in which the rider simply shifts up or down and the electronics figure out which derailleur to move. The rear derailleur can also be set up to compensate for a front derailleur shift automatically, this makes it easier for the rider to maintain an even cadence as the jump down or up is less pronounced. Reach adjustment in the levers mean they can always be perfectly positioned in your hand for a near telepathic shifting and braking experience.
